Van Venrooy KTM Racing Shows Progress During MXGP of Latvia

The Van Venrooy KTM Racing Team can look back on a positive weekend at the MXGP of Latvia in Kegums. Progress was made in the MXGP, MX2, and EMX250 classes, with strong performances from Rick Elzinga, Noel Zanocz, and Áron Katona.

For Rick Elzinga, Kegums marked his second Grand Prix in the colors of Van Venrooy KTM Racing. The Dutch rider started the weekend by setting the fourteenth fastest time in timed practice and then crossed the finish line in fifteenth place in the qualifying race.

On Sunday, Elzinga continued working on finding the right feeling with his KTM. In the opening moto, he came through the first lap in sixteenth position and spent much of the race running around that spot. However, halfway through the race, his challenge came to an end after a crash caused too much damage to his bike to continue.

In the second moto, Elzinga once again showed improvement. Starting from fifteenth place, he worked his way up to twelfth. In the closing stages, he lost a few positions, but a fifteenth-place finish still earned him valuable World Championship points.

"The weekend was another step in the right direction. The start wasn't easy because I was still searching for the right setup and feeling with the bike. Thanks to good communication with the suspension technicians, things improved every session, and I felt increasingly comfortable on the bike.

The goal was to build up the motos steadily. In the first moto, things didn't go exactly as I wanted. Eventually, I crashed due to a small mistake and couldn't continue because of the damage to the bike. The second moto went much better. I moved from fifteenth up to twelfth and was able to ride at my own pace for a large part of the race. In the end, I finished fifteenth. I'm reasonably satisfied. Right now, it's the small details that are preventing me from making that step into the top ten. Once we put that puzzle together, we can definitely fight for those positions."

In the MX2 class, Noel Zanocz once again delivered a solid Grand Prix performance. The Hungarian rider posted the eleventh fastest time in practice and finished fifteenth in the qualifying race.

In the first moto, Zanocz came through the opening lap in fifteenth position and worked his way up to twelfth by the finish. He also made progress in the second moto. After starting around sixteenth place, he fought back to finish thirteenth.

With a 12-13 score in the motos, Zanocz secured fourteenth overall in the Grand Prix classification.

For Áron Katona, the EMX250 event consisted of two completely different races. The Hungarian rider started the weekend strongly by setting the seventh fastest time in his practice group.

In the first moto, he came through the opening lap in twenty-second position and worked his way up to twentieth. A mistake then dropped him back to twenty-fourth, but once again he fought his way back to twentieth place.

The second moto went much better. Katona emerged from the start around sixteenth position and produced several strong overtaking moves throughout the race. He was eventually flagged in tenth place, securing an impressive top-ten finish.

"This weekend I found a few more pieces of the puzzle. Saturday wasn't the day I had hoped for. Practice sessions were decent, but in the race, things just didn't fall my way and I had a few unlucky moments. Because of that, I wasn't able to show what I'm truly capable of.

Sunday was a completely different story. I rode a strong moto, made several good passes, and felt much better on the bike. That's why I'm very happy with the result in the second moto. Thank you to everyone who supports me on this journey."

With positive developments in all three classes, Van Venrooy KTM Racing heads into the next rounds of the season with confidence.
